Free up your hands while staying cuddly close to your baby with some of these great carrying options.
Soft Carriers
Moms to be..and More is one of the city’s leading sellers of baby Bjorn products. This is an excellent example of a front carrier, as it provides all the features you should be looking for when considering the purchase of this item. Ease of use, which ultimately means how easy it is to put on, is the number one pointer. If the carrier is difficult to put on you will be frustrated, therefore dissatisfied. The support that the unit provides for you, and for the baby is next on the list. If you feel that you are in and snugly secured, your child will feel confident and comfortable using this item. Also, make sure that you can easily adjust the shoulder harness so that you and your partner can easily use the carrier you choose.
As well as the above we also carry the Ergobaby Carrier. From infancy to toddler, this carrier will meet all your needs in the front, back or hip positions. The innovative design enables Moms and Dads to be hands free and remain active and productive in their daily lives. The ERGObaby carrier’s ergonomic design supports a correct sitting position for the baby’s hip, pelvis and spine growth. It disperses most of the baby’s weight between the hips and thighs and helps prevent compression of the spine. This carrier also alleviates physical stress for the parent by balancing the baby’s weight to parents’ hips and shoulders.
KJ’s Tip: Come to the store with your baby and try a carrier on whilst you shop, it’s a foolproof road to a successful choice.
Framed Carriers

This product demands you try it on. Everyone’s baby is different and the fact that these units are all built on a metal (aluminium) frame means that the adjustability is definitely a little more limited. The child’s seating area is usually adjustable, but trying these units on with your child in it is the only way to test whether this is for you or not. A sun canopy is “must” accessory (if it doesn’t come with it). Also make sure the carrier can stand by itself so you can take a break. Our favorites are the carriers by Phil and Teds.
KJ’s Tip: If a unit is sitting too low on your back and is resting on your bum, this will not be comfortable – don’t settle, you will find a carrier that is right for you and your babe.
Slings
Slings have been around for centuries in many cultures, making them the “original baby tote”. They can be an incredibly comfortable choice, allowing for hands free carrying, keeping your baby close. As well as the very natural “womb-like carrying position”, most companies include instructions which clearly show a variety of positions in which the baby can be carried. Using a Sling is a great way to stay close and connected to your child without having to worry about buckles or snaps. Saying that it is important to try them on and make sure that you feel comfortable wearing one as your baby isn’t as ‘buckled’ in as with the other types of carriers.. If both you and your partner want to use the same sling and you are different sizes you will want to consider an adjustable sling like the Womb Baby, or Heart to Heart. If adjustability is not a factor then perhaps a Hotslings would be better suited.
Wraps

The design of the Moby™ Wrap uses your entire back, as well as your shoulders, to carry the weight of your baby. Unlike other carriers, which have narrow straps or go across one shoulder, the Moby™ Wrap is a wide piece of fabric, 5.5 meters in length, which is wrapped over both shoulders. It is amazingly comfortable and easy to wear. There are no buckles, snaps or other fasteners. It is easy to adjust the fit of your Moby™ Wrap by varying how tightly you wrap yourself and your baby. It is one of the most versatile carriers out there, and it’s great for twins!
