There are a couple of considerations prior to shopping for a double stroller. If you are having twins you will need to look at something that will carry both infants lying down and if this unit will also carry two car seats it would be a bonus. We advise you look at the Baby Trend snap and go as a car seat transportation unit or the Peg Perego Duette as a unit that will carry both of the car seats as well as having two regular seats that can face either direction as well as lay flat. These units are in tandem style (one in front of the other). Double strollers that are designed for a toddler and an infant are slightly different to the twin set up. They often only accommodate only one car seat or one bassinet. You will often have a choice of either tandem style or side by side. Most tandem styles will have the toddler seat at the front and that seat will have a reclining feature for napping but not enough for a newborn who will go in the second seat that normally reclines. Side by sides usually offer two seat seats that perform the same way in their recline abilities and car seat carrying capacities you must take into account if these seats are able to recline enough for the newborn and look to see if the canopies are what you want and the basket is going to provide you with enough storage for everyone. It is very important that all of these units must be folded to ensure that they fit into your trunk (so make sure you test this as well).
Most people will need to buy a double stroller when children are born within three years of each other- the older child will need to be pushed in a stroller (at least part of the time)– the transition to walking from being pushed everywhere is a slow one…
