 |  |  |  | | | A sleeper can be simply defined as one piece pajamas with feet. There are other styles of layette such as union suits (a sleeper without feet) and rompers (short sleeved and short legged one piece).
For the first few months many children will pretty much only wear sleepers and other layette styles for a couple or reasons, the first being ease of use. With new babies you may have to change their diaper up to 10-12 times a day, so anything that is simple to whip on and off, typically with snaps or zippers makes it easy on sleep deprived parents. The other reason new parents tend to stay away from full outfits (as cute as they may be) is because babies are also usually spitting up constantly and getting their upper half wet as well. So, sleepers again are easier to change and are usually more cost effective then a full outfit. Don’t get us wrong there’s nothing more heart melting then a newborn in a ridiculously cute outfit! Just be prepared to fight the liquids coming out of both ends!!
