 | | | | | | Not everyone may realize this, but it is actually not recommended to put sunscreen on babies younger than 6 months. Because a baby’s skin is so porous, the sunscreen runs the risk of being absorbed into their system. What does this have to do with swimwear you may ask? Well, the swimwear we carry aren't typical swimsuits. The swimsuits we carry by Sunsmart provide 50+ UV protection, therefore reducing the need for sunscreen. Please keep in mind however the suits are only ¾ in length and therefore you must still be careful not to leave babies less than 6 months exposed for too long. The sun suits are available in a one piece, which is great for doing diaper changes, and a two piece which is great for older more independent children, especially those who are potty training. Along with the swimsuits, hats and sunglasses are also a sun essential. All of these items can be found at the store.
If you are heading to the beach, especially with children who are walking, it might not be a bad idea to take a pair of Kushies water shoes along with you they offer a protective layer between your child’s toes and whatever might be lurking in the sand and water.
For those of you who cottage and have a boat, or even those of you who like to spend time by a pool with your children we recommend considering a Salus Life Vest. We have chosen to sell this line of PDF’s because it is the only one that offers a vest specifically for babies from 9-25 lbs. It is constructed specifically for babies’ top heavy body structure and takes into account the real way a baby’s body would be in the water. Its one piece front design ensures that the baby will turn face up from a face forward position. For older children we also carry sizes 20-30lbs and 30-60lbs.
Are swimming lessons coming up? In that case a regular diaper won’t do as it will fill up like a balloon with water! That’s why we carry swim diapers by Kushies. A swim diaper looks very similar to a diaper cover although it has the power to contain whatever might end up in it like a regular diaper. Always contact your pool before you begin lessons, as each community pool might have their own regulations regarding infant diapering.
