Must haves Around Nana & Grandpop’s house
1 Spare Diapers – same kind as the baby has at home, just don’t overstock-as sizes change quickly.
2-Onesies – Buy large, then they will last longer, great as a sleeper, or a change of clothes (if a little quick laundry needs to be done!)
3- Wipes, mild baby body wash (can double as shampoo if needed). Diaper rash cream and sunscreen (only after 6 months old)- all bases covered (and wrinkles too)
4- Is a sleepover or afternoon siesta on the agenda? - A portable playpen is perfect. The baby will get used to sleeping in this special place of its own, and later it can double as a safe place to leave the babe when you’re doing dishes, laundry etc. Some playpens even come equipped with a changing space – added convenience for your tired backs!
5 –Baby Blankets – If they have become attached to a favourite, it might be wise to have a duplicate on hand, other than it, have receiving blankets on hand for wrapping, changing, burping, or just cuddling in!
6- After the baby gets mobile, ensure you install some child proofing basics, outlet covers, gates if there are dangerous stairs, (remember no pressure gates at the top of stairs), and make sure any chemicals/cleaning supplies are OUT OF REACH, or locked up.
7- Activities – a couple of books, a favourite DVD and some blocks should do the trick, keep it simple, and you’ll have lots of fun playing with your new precious bundle, that you get to give back, when you’re tired!
8 – An easy to use lightweight stroller will be a great addition if will be having many, or extended visits. Sometimes mommy & daddy have equipment that is heavy or too complicated, that can leave others frustrated.
